Overview

An Unpowered Unit for Realistic Double-Heading! With its low nose and high horsepower rating, the RS-27 initially attracted the attention of five railroads: Chicago & NorthWestern, Green Bay & Western, Pennsylvania, Soo Line and Union Pacific. The RS-27, which was produced from 1959 to 1962, used the running gear of the RS-11, but had more power. Its visual profile was the result of its increased horsepower. The cab had to be pushed up to allow more room for the 16-cylinder 251 engine. M.T.H. is proud of our 1:48 scale-sized version of the mighty RS-27, now offered in four of the five railroads who owned them. Let the RS-27 roar into your life and leave a lasting impression on you - an impression that you'll pass down to the next generation of model railroaders. Did You Know? Only 27 RS-27s were built. The Pennsylvania Railroad owned 15 of them.
