Burlington O Gauge RailKing F-3 R-T-R Passenger Train Set w/Proto-Sound 2.0
Overview
True to its slogan "Everywhere West," the Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad stretched from the metropolis of Chicago through Wisconsin's dairylands, the Big Sky Country of Montana, the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and the plains of Nebraska. While the Burlington, or the Q as it was often called, did much of its work hauling the products of farmers and ranchers, it was most famous for innovations in passenger travel. On April 4, 1934, it introduced America's first lightweight, streamlined, diesel-powered passenger train, the Burlington Zephyr. A decade later the Q premiered the first vista-dome car. Perhaps the best dome ride ever was on the California Zephyr, operated jointly by the Q, the Denver and Rio Grande Western, and the Western Pacific Railroad. The CZ departed from Chicago and conquered both the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada Mountains on its route to Oakland, California.
Imagine you're traveling through the snow-capped Sierra Nevadas with this California Zephyr passenger set. Turn out the lights and watch the headlight slice through the darkness, followed by a string of passenger cars with illuminated interiors. The powerful, twin-motored engine features diesel motor sounds, horn and bell, crew conversations, California Zephyr station announcements, and squealing brakes when you come to a stop.
