M.T.H. Electric Trains in cooperation with Washington DC's Union Station has created a Holiday Train Display that runs through January 2, 2012 in the West and Main Halls of this one hundred year-old Washington landmark. Click on the video icon to the left to see a video of the display in action.
A total of three displays make up the exhibit, each featuring a selection of trains from all of M.T.H.'s product lines. The station's Main Hall features a large five-train 11' x 20' O Gauge display surrounded by four glass cases that contain a selection of different M.T.H. trains including those found with M&M's, Harley-Davidson and Lionel Corporation Tinplate branding.
The West Hall features an 8' wide octagonal Tinplate layout with both Standard and O Gauge trains, structures and lamps and accessories. In addition to the Tinplate layout, a 30' long O Gauge layout is also featured in the West Hall, complete with four different trains running through a variety of scenes featuring lots of M.T.H. RailKing buildings.
Each display is controlled by M.T.H.'s DCS Digital Command System which independently controls each train throughout the day. At anyone time visitors will see trains start and stop, blow their horns or whistles, trigger their passenger station sounds and much more. The DCS system and a series of timers automatically turn on and off the display at the beginning and end of each day.
Most of the trains featured in the display are currently available from your local M.T.H. Authorized Retailer. All of the operating trains are featured in the 2011 Ready-to-Run train set catalog.
