First appearing in the 1927 catalog, the No. 254E electric locomotive was a single truck O gauge center cab model outfitted with an electric reverse unit, also known as the E-Unit. Featuring a single motor, two headlights and a single fixed pantograph, the small but powerful locomotive looked at home pulling a string of 600 series passenger cars.
Specially decorated in Lionel Orange and Blue, this limited-edition ready-to-run passenger set will look great on an O Gauge tinplate layout or equally at home running around a Christmas tree during the holidays. Available with modern electronics and sound effects or in traditional AC motor and mechanical E-unit version, these sets come with everything you need to get started.
Both traditional and Proto-Sound 2.0 sets feature a 12-piece oval of easy-to-assemble RealTrax track, a lighted lockon and a powerful 50-watt UL approved transformer. Traditional sets include a Z-Controller for managing power to the track while Proto-Sound 2.0 sets are equipped with a wireless DCS Remote Commander remote control that unlocks the state-of-the-art sound effects found inside the locomotive.
Relive the colorful final days of tinplate - with the added excitement that a child in the 1930s could only dream about: vibrant locomotive sounds, passenger station terminal announcements, constant voltage lighting and realistic slow speed operation.
