M.T.H. hand-crafted the original sample for the 400AE Articulated steamer based on a photograph of a custom-designed engine. The 400E is one of the most popular of all tinplate engines, and we consider this articulated version a "should have been" engine. The original non-articulated 400E pulled either freight or passenger cars, and this beauty can do so as well. In eye-catching shiny black enamel paint with either brass or nickel trim, this engine will beautifully head up a consist of M.T.H.'s attractive freight or passenger cars. M.T.H. has equipped this contemporary engine with freight yard Proto-EffectsT and it comes equipped with the full complement of M.T.H. DCS technology*. If you prefer to run passenger cars, you can use the new DCS Remote Control System to download a passenger engine sound package from the website. *With the exception of Proto-Coupler operation. Tinplate engines feature metal latch couplers like the originals to maintain the proper appearance.
