February 14, 2007 - M.T.H. Electric Trains is pleased to announce that all the O Scale Premier Line steam locomotives featured in the 2007 Volume 1 catalog will be produced despite earlier reports that insufficient early orders for some of the locomotives had placed them in jeopardy of not entering production this Spring.

In addition to moving forward with production, those locomotives previously announced as in jeopoardy of not going into production will feature a number of enhancements not included in the catalog descriptions. Most notable among these enhancements is the all new "wireless" drawbar connecting locomotive to tender. No longer will these impressive models be encumbered by the sight of the Proto-Sound 2.0 digital sound board tether.

The wireless drawbar will also be utilized in the following Premier Line steam locomotives:

Pennsylvania L-1 Mikado


USRA 0-6-0 Switcher

ENHANCED LOCOMOTIVE FEATURE LIST


The Greenbrier 4-8-4 Steam Engine w/Proto-Sound 2.0 (Hi-Rail Wheels) will include the following enhancements:

  • Add prototypical tandem side rods between the 2nd & 3rd Drivers
  • The smoke box door hinges will be the correct scale size.
  • Add prototypical metal classification flags
  • Add lighted numberboards
  • Add feedwater pump behind left rear driver
  • Add piping for the feedwater heater
  • Add the feedwater boiler check valve detail
  • Add the steam exhaust pipe for the booster engine
  • Add safety chains to the tender trucks
  • The 613 version will have prototypically correct smoke deflectors
  • Add bell and whistle cord pulls
  • Remove tender harness, use wireless drawbar

    The Class A 2-6-6-4 Steam Engine w/Proto-Sound 2.0 (Hi-Rail Wheels) will include the following ehancements:

  • The correct trailing truck will be used on the '07 version
  • The smoke box door hinges will be the correct scale size.
  • The 1242 version will have roller bearing side rods
  • The whistle sound will be improved.
  • Add safety chains to the tender trucks
  • Add bell and whistle cord pulls
  • Remove tender harness, use wireless drawbar

    The Canadian National 4-8-2 Steam Engine w/Proto-Sound 2.0 (Hi-Rail Wheels) will include the following enhancements:

  • The smoke box door hinges will be the correct scale size.
  • See through detail on the leading truck and the trailing truck
  • See through detail on the tender truck sideframes
  • Add safety chains to the tender trucks
  • Add bell and whistle cord pulls
  • Remove tender harness, use wireless drawbar

    The Z-6 Challenger 4-6-6-4 Steam Engine w/Proto-Sound 2.0 will include the following enhancemtns:

    As this is new tooling, it will have all of the current upgrades including the scale size smoke box door hinges and the wireless drawbar.
